SMK 6 Padang is tourism group which has 4 departement: (1) Restourant, (2) Fashion, (3)Beauty skin and hair, and (4) Hotel. Training and Education Program by using vocational curriculum 2004 edition with dual system education form (on Job Training). 

SMK Negeri 6 Padang has also get a certificate of ISO 9001:2001. SMK Negeri 6 Padang is the only school that can invite clients, even three clients, in its first year achievement of ISO certificate.  

SMK Negeri 6 now also perform its ability as a place for competencies evaluation or TUK (Tempat Uji Kompetensi) for KKPI subject or which is known as ICT Centre (Information Comunication  Technology) in Padang and ETC ( English Testing Centre ) for English subject.
